MIXED STRUCTURAL AND BEHAVIORAL MODELS FOR PREDICTING THE FUTURE BEHAVIOR OF SOME ASPECTS OF THE MACROECONOMY by
A new methodology for predicting the behavior of macro-economic variables is described. The approach is based on System Dynamics and Fuzzy Inductive Reasoning. A four-layer pseudo-hierarchical model is proposed. The bottom layer makes predictions about population dynamics, age distributions among the populace, as well as demographics. The second layer makes predictions about the general state o...
متن کاملScale-free models and robustness of the Internet
John Doyle et al. suggest that using scale-free network models to make predictions about the Internet can yield inaccurate results. The authors investigated the line of research portraying the Internet as scale-free, simultaneously unaffected by random losses of nodes yet vulnerable to targeted attacks on the hubs. Doyle et al. specifically examined the conclusion that the Internet has hubs thr...

In particular, the impact of the Internet on cust...
متن کاملA Business Model to Detect Disease Outbreaks
Introduction: Every year several disease outbreaks, such as influenza-like illnesses (ILI) and other contagious illnesses, impose various costs to public and non-government agencies. Most of these expenses are due to not being ready to handle such disease outbreaks. An appropriate preparation will reduce the expenses. A system that is able to recognize these outbreaks can earn ...
متن کاملEmergent Challenges Future Internet Protocols
T he Internet is based on a layered set of protocols — the most basic of which is TCP/IP — and the servers and routers that support them. As the Internet becomes increasingly crucial to our economy and culture and our collective usage increases in both magnitude and type, challenges are arising for the Internet’s basic protocols. The Internet has been “about to fail” since its commercialization...
